Tracing the "Dippers"
Use your cell phone to take a photo of the night sky. Preferably a panoramic shot in the direction of Polaris (North Star). Check out my photo. See if you can make out the dippers. If not, it's fine. You can take your own photos. Use information and images from the internet to assist you in tracing out your dippers accordingly.
Hint: Start with the North Star or Dubhe.
Note: The dippers rotate and at times may look upside down or sideways depending on the time of the year. Also, the North Star does not rise or set because it is almost directly above the Earth's North Pole. It is great for guidance at sea, etc. When you can identify the North Star in your area, it will always be there to view.
Take your time with the photo below. It was taken on my back patio facing north. The next photo will show you my tracing of the "Dippers."
In the next photo the Dippers are traced and named.
Cool, Huh!
